Shaheen
Our Foundation

The Shaheen Philosophy

Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the poet-philosopher of the East, used the Shaheen (falcon) as a metaphor for the ideal human spirit. His vision guides everything we do at the Iqbal Foundation.

تو شاہین ہے، پرواز ہے کام تیرا
تیرے سامنے آسمان اور بھی ہیں

"You are a falcon, flight is your vocation.
You have other skies stretching before you."

This line underpins every programme: there is always more to achieve, more to learn, more to become.

The Philosopher

Who Was Allama Muhammad Iqbal?

A brief introduction to the poet-philosopher whose vision guides our foundation.

Allama Muhammad Iqbal (1877–1938) was a poet, philosopher, and scholar whose work continues to inspire millions. Born in Sialkot (now in Pakistan), he studied philosophy in Cambridge and Munich before returning to dedicate his life to awakening the Muslim world through poetry and thought.

Iqbal's central concept was Khudi (selfhood) — the idea that every person has infinite potential waiting to be discovered. He believed education, self-discipline, and high aspiration could transform individuals and societies.

His poetry, written in both Urdu and Persian, uses powerful metaphors — especially the Shaheen (falcon) — to encourage people to aim high, never settle, and continuously strive for excellence.

"The purpose of education is to free the student's mind from the limitations imposed by ignorance and tradition, and to enable them to think independently and creatively."

The Iqbal Foundation honors his legacy by putting these principles into action — empowering communities through education, mentoring, wellness, and intergenerational connection.
